Winder Power, the UK electricity‐distribution transformer specialist backed by Connection Capital, is pleased to announce the appointment of Simon McCloud to its Board.

Simon brings over 30 years of leadership experience in complex engineering and manufacturing businesses. Most recently, he served as Project and Operations Director for Europe, Africa, Caspian and Russia at OneSubsea (a Schlumberger company), where he held full P&L responsibility for a $850m+ business unit, leading 1,800 people and delivering more than 40 major EPC projects for global energy clients including BP, Shell, Chevron and ENI.

Earlier in his career, Simon held senior roles with Bombardier Transportation, including Site General Manager of its Derby plant — the largest in its global network — where he led operations, quality, and HSE for 1,500 staff and drove significant efficiency and productivity improvements. He has a strong track record of operational excellence, plant turnarounds, and building high-performing teams.

With revenues of approximately £35 million and a team of around 120 people, Winder Power traces its roots back over 100 years and is well positioned to support the UK’s transition to net zero and growing investment in energy infrastructure.

Simon McCloud, New COO of Winder Power said:

“I’m delighted to join Winder Power at such a pivotal time. The company has a proud heritage and an exciting future, and I look forward to helping it deliver the highest standards of operational excellence and play its part in strengthening the UK’s energy infrastructure.”
