About the Role

This is a senior leadership opportunity for a commercially driven Managing Director / Sales & Marketing Director to lead a UK-based, engineering-led manufacturing organisation through its next period of transformational growth. With recent private equity investment secured, the business is entering a new strategic phase, requiring a leader who can sharpen its market position, elevate commercial capability, and drive the development of a stronger, more scalable operational structure. The role combines strategic oversight with hands-on leadership, making it ideal for someone comfortable operating at both board level and within the day-to-day realities of an SME.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for defining and implementing a compelling commercial growth strategy, strengthening the go-to-market approach, and expanding the company’s reach into new sectors. You will work closely with investors and the board to deliver a value creation plan, enhance governance, ensure operational alignment, and build a high-performing leadership team. This role offers substantial influence over the future direction of the company and its ability to realise its growth potential.

Requirements

  • Proven leadership experience in a private equity–backed or investor-led environment, with an understanding of value creation, governance and commercial performance metrics.


  • Background in contract electronics manufacturing, engineering-led production, or a related technical manufacturing domain.


  • Strong commercial orientation, with experience building sales and marketing capability, winning new customers, and driving sector diversification.


  • A hands-on, change-oriented leadership style with the ability to build teams, embed culture, and align operations behind a clear growth agenda.
